Gratz @kleinmat4103  & @russell.harris

More ransomware attacks I would guess, its lucrative for black hats.

Two predictions:

  1. A cyberattack will cause a large-scale infrastructure outage in a western country. Something like the power grid going down for Los Angeles or London.
  2. Channel-focused vendors will begin to offer cyber insurance as part of their catalog of services. Bundling with security products to sell “Compliance Packages.” Probably someone will come up with a better name. lol

Predictions/personal wishes :

  1. - Increase in uptake in utilising Cyber Security as a Service by SMBs
  2. - Better awareness of Security Awareness Training along with more businesses taking it up and treating Cyber crime as a reality and not something that only happens to others.
  3. Mac users concede that they actually are not immune to cyber attacks!

Predictions/worrying concerns :

  1. - A critical service failure of a major corporation due to a cyber attack.
  2. - Long outage of a well known social media service due to major user details leak.

My Predications are

  1. Insurance companies starting to force businesses to have cyber security insurance - we are already starting to see this
  2. Continued ransomware attacks on businesses, governments, and schools.

I can see more attacks being aimed towards the infrastructure in the west due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine along with attacks going on in tandem originating from the far east.

Ransomware attacks will continue in their popularity.

There will be a take down of one of the major players in the hacking groups with the cat and mouse game will continue with others.

Is it just me or are some of these predictions starting to look like the next Netflix thriller?!

Thanks for the predictions everyone!

My prediction is we will no longer see the slowdown the first few months of the year (hacker holiday) and it will be full ramp on campaigns year round

Predictions:

  • Mass Exodus from AV to more advanced EDR/MDR/XDR and the requirements of insurance companies is forcing companies to move to products with more visibility and more information than simple detection/blocking
  • Even more focus on Zero Trust as an entire mindset
  • Continued attacks on HealthCare, Education and SMB/SME
  • MSP/MSSP’s being swamped with a myriad of marketing about silver bullets.

You just missed out on the drawing for winners and I can say that this would have likely won. Thanks for contributing
