As the world of AI grow, and will become more and more “relevant” with a 4th industrial revolution on its way. It will become more and more relevant to have Cyber Security in the forefront of all protection platforms. Companies will have to “refine” what they regard as Cyber Security, but from the “bat” it is more than just a decent Anti Virus Software, VPN, and other items that have been mentioned in the past weeks on other discussions and posts. If you want to stay relevant as an Organization or a MSP, you will have to really refine the stack that you look after, and ensure you have a proper all rounded Cyber Security platform in place, making you Cyber Resilient. From AV, Firewalls, VPN, DNS, SAT, BCDR you also have to strongly look into a decent Development “resilience, where we need to learn to test whatever is developed and well tested to ensure that there are no gaps in the system that can be breached and exploited. For me, this will give you the best chance possible, as Cyber Criminals evolve as the world and technology evolve, and we need to learn to thing outside of the “box” to ensure we have the best practices and processes in place with what we put out there.

My prediction: Cybersecurity Insurance will become increasingly necessary (and mandatory for more industries than it already is.) Further, we will see an increased technical burden placed on businesses to become compliant with the insurer. As cybersecurity becomes more of a focus, insurers will be emboldened to push for more from you. Don’t have EDR? Your premium will be higher or the policy outright rejected until you do. Don’t have NGAV? Better get one (or a better one.) And it makes sense, too. With more threats than ever, if you aren’t adhering to industry best practices, you’re a larger risk. We will also see the FTC compliance needs increase in the coming years. They have already made regulatory compliance mandatory for financial institutions (June 9th is coming!) and the more that we learn about threat vectors (and technical solutions to prevent them) we will be asked for more to remain compliant. Businesses can no longer operate on their own accord, especially when customer data is in the mix. These requirements will continue to become more of a burden, and you must adapt.

Challenges: Small businesses will struggle with many of these regulations and compliancy requirements. A smaller organization may not necessarily have the cash flow to take on bigger enterprise solutions like these. It will be a big push for MSPs to roll it out to SMBs in a cost-effective manner. Additionally, many SMBs just plain won’t have the technical expertise to check all of the boxes, and will likely fall outside of compliance as a result of this. For smaller orgs, those fines and losses can break the business, so there won’t be any room for failure.

Engagement: I think Martin (poster above) is spot on with his outlook on AI. Right now, this is a big unknown for a LOT of people, and we’re going to all get thrown into finding out the dangers and needs of AI whether we are ready or not. There is a ton of hesitancy about AI out there, and like many new technologies, that can scare a lot of people. So you are left to hop on the train and learn more about how to leverage it, or get caught behind while competing businesses do.

I agree with @Martin.1 I think AI will play a big part with scammers and hackers leveraging these tools to make things more difficult to spot

I also think more business are going to be required to have Cyber Security Insurance as part of their overall business insurance.

The last 3 members have mentioned AI as playing a big part in future attacks.
But I think that actually AI is going to take over completely with the attacks vectors playing a much smaller part with the occasional large scale resurrection of an older vulnerability.
My concern is the ability of the vendors to keep track of the new challenges that AI will throw up along the way.
Rodney1 mentions Cybersecurity Insurance, yes I think it is going to lay a much bigger part in businesses, however I also think that businesses and their employees will have to be much more proactive in training etc against the new threats coming along.

@Martin.1  - I agree that 4th industrial revolution is on it’s way

@Rodney18 - AI is already getting used for scammers and I think this is just the beginning

@Jasper_The_Rasper - I agree that AI is going to be the source of new attack vectors entirely and might just be good/bad AI warfare

@Michael2907 - Totally agree on your points and I do sympathize with the SMB that will struggle to find a cost effective approach to defend against all these new surfaces of attack

Nice work everyone y’all get gift cards (delivered later this week in PM)

@TylerM Isn't the Webroot Cloud (ENZO) some sort of AI?

Thanks!
