So, I received a settlement email and accessed the website where I could see if my spouse and I were eligible by virtue of having our personal information compromised. There we found the old "Find Out if Your Information Was Impacted" button. We had to put the last six digits of our socials in a block (what's left after that but the state code of issuance?). We both came up positive.

So, I clicked on the "File a Claim" button for grins. That's when, in Firefox my Webroot filtering extension warned me about the web page. So, I took a screen shot and started this thread.

Now I'm wondering if the settlement website is legit: Equifax Breach Settlement website

I know I'm not taking them up on their offer to monitor my credit, and I really think 125 bucks as an alternative is not attractive.

I've read somewhere on their website that Equifax has a Cap on the money to be given out. If the money given out exceeds the Cap by the number of people applying for this refund then people will get less than the said $125.00. That being said, you might walk away with less then $5.00 (depending how many people apply). To me it's not worth the hassle.

Pretty funny. Musta been the "Low popularity" that did it in.
