"Fearless Felix" prepping for record-breaking supersonic skydive-live stream

Here's something to brighten up a gloomy Tuesday morning!

Austria's Felix Baumgartner- I'd call him today's Evel Knievel-is getting ready to go up 120,000 feet so he can attempt the longest skydive in history! Felix will make his space capsule ascent in the two ton, 55 story balloon .Check out the live stream below. It's about to start (I think)!

Update-The event is called off for today due to wind gusts; possibly to try again tomorrow, weather permitting.
"Once they started inflating the balloon it began to be whipped in the wind and it became apparent that full inflation would be impossible.
Whoa, gusty winds are taking that balloon down now," said the Red Bull announcer. "That's going to be a problem. There's the decision. Abort the attempt.
"That's the decision. This is going to be off for today. ... They had the window for a short while. But the winds are a huge concern."

I'll update the thread tomorrow accordingly.

 Cheers,
Yegor

I have been skydiving twice, but 36 miles above the surface!!! That is insane! 😉

I have heard about living on the edge, but this just takes it to a whole other level.I would never go bungee jumping, let alone this.I do not have a death wish. There are safer records to try and break:D

I definitely agree with you superssjdan!

I was literally on the edge of my cubicle seat getting ready to watch him go up in that huge chamber attached to that massive balloon. This is definitely borderline insane and I really hope he makes it out alive and well. If the weather ever permits him to go up, I'll update this thread accordingly.

Huh...
Go to 23 miles altitude in a capsule dangling under a huge balloon, jump out, and break the sound barrier on the way down, then pull a parachute cord.

What could possibly go wrong?

Well, today's the day.Hopefully he doesn't become a human pancake.Figures something this crazy would be going on near Roswell. He'll be seeing more than aliens if his parachute doesn't deploy.I wish the man the best of luck.Any last minute chance of a Webroot sponsorship?I'd love to see that big green W on the parachute, although it wouldn't look very good should the dive fail.

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread going! I'm very happy he's back on the ground in one piece, no frostbite, and no boiled blood. I'm shocked at how he wasn't fazed and just went for it, but in the end, he set records and pulled off something truly  crazy. It seems like the someone somewhere is always willing to push the envelope and take something already insane even further!

Till Next Time!

Hi Mike,
I don't have a link but the commentator stated that they will have a 2 hour TV special on the jump next month. 😃

Hey ProTruckDriver,

Thanks for the info! :D

I think the jump was so incredible, a 1:30 video just doesn't give enough credit.
