Oh, I miss my mom’s cookies and snowballs! She used to make them and send me a tin every year. She really can’t do much anymore.

Currently we’ll probably get together with my brother, his kids and my mom.  I so miss celebrating with small kids. They wake up at the crack of dawn and wake you up…..  drink coffee with a bit of baileys while the kids unwrap. Those were the good old days.

ooohhhh yeah now that is what life is, growing up, with a whole family that was all in the building and construction industry, December holidays was a massive family tradition where they all booked in somewhere. Part of the process each family have to make their favorite biscuits and cookies and bring with. As young boys, this was the best feast ever with some milk.

For us now, Christmas still consist of family where we all get together and have a feast, mainly consisting (as a tradition) at least a 10kg container of Christmas cookies (half is mine and for me only), a massive pot of crab curry. roasted lamb, some seafood paella (mainly prawns calamari) lots of baked veggies, and then the crown prince of the Christmas feast, DESERT. Chocolate moose, trifle, sago and a few others. I normally start with the cookies, miss the middle parts on Christmas day, finish the deserts up, and then boxing day will have for breakfast the leftovers from the crab curry and seafood paella.

This year it will be a bit quieter for us, and I will most probably have to do most of the cooking until the best half of me is fully recovered from surgery.
