Gratz guys :)

The best Christmas gift I ever received was from my wife a few years ago.  She bought me a Jackson DKA Model 5 and a Mini Marshall stack.  For the uninitiated that is some heavy metal guitar gear of the highest level ;).

I don’t have any pics on me or I’d post them, Ill try and get one tonight and post it back here, just for bragging rights.

The best holiday gift I ever received would have to be the year I got a live bunny as a gift when I was a kid. It was a super cool Christmas gift!

Congrats on winning, @russell.harris and @Jasper_The_Rasper !

Teri

My Best Christmas was three years ago when we thought we had lost another baby to miscarriage because they could not find a heartbeat, a week or two before Christmas we went for an ultrasound, fully expecting to have a miscarriage but instead were told we had a healthy girl on the way, and she was born a couple months later in February

BEST holiday gift I've ever received?

Am I allowed to answer :

  • The Webroot SecureAnywhere Threat Cadets Action Figures I won last Christmas? 😀😉

Seriously though, I would have to say a Christmas surprise trip to Bruges my wife bought me a few years back. Christmas Markets, LOTS of chocolate. Beautiful architecture and old cobbled streets. Was amazing.

Lovely story. Don’t think we can compete with this one!

My best gift as a child was getting Optimus Prime

As an adult, it was finding out that my wife was pregnant with our daughter!

Best Christmas gift as a kid was a Commodore 64. We had some classic games, like Donkey Kong, which I spent a lot of time playing. It also came with a spiral-bound tutorial for coding in BASIC. I spent many an hour in my room writing out sophisticated programs like:

10 PRINT “Matt is Cool”

20 GOTO 10

That sparked a love for computers and coding that set me on the career path I’m on now.

Thank you for the adventure kit, it will be put to good use.

My wife tends to give me some wonderful surprises at Christmas but the one which sticks in my mind more than any other is a vintage cast iron original 1960 freight train identification plate from Shildon (where I was brought up).

It may seem strange to you all, but Shildon is pretty much where passengers trains originated from in 1825 and my family have worked on the railways since 1827 (I am the first to break the tradition and worked on them for 1 month). And the date of 1960 is the year I was born and when I was young it is actually very likely I had seen the identification plate in use.

My grandson as it happens is obsessed by railways.

@Rodney18  I hope everything works out for you both in the future. A very close relative of mine had 6 miscarriages before having 2 children and I know the impact on those involved, it is devastating.
The very best of luck to you both for the future.

Thanks it can be very devastating, but we got through it and like they say the fire only makes you stronger!  We have two boys before we had a miscarriage and then a girl, so I think we are done with the babies, love the toddler stage and doing things with the older boys.

@Rodney18  Awesome to have this posted, I honestly think there is no one that will beat you on this.

@Jasper_The_Rasper  and @russell.harris congrats on the prizes.

My best Christmas gift is when my wife got discharged from hospital yesterday after having brain surgery, a whole month without your better half at home, having to be a husband, a father and a mother looking after the kids, you appreciate your better half even more when they come home healthy.

@russell.harris  I am humbled thank you, unfortunately I am in South Africa bud, and Webroot do not ship here, so I am more than happy to give my nomination to another deserving member, as that just fair play :-)

My best gift ever was a book from my childhood my mother used to read to me. After I lost my mum I remember telling my wife about the book when our daughter was born and she bought me a copy for Christmas. I balled like a baby!!!

Edit: for anyone interested, the book is called “I want my hat back” by Jon Klassen

@Martin.1 I understand where you are coming from and this Christmas is going to be extra special for you when things like that go on it really makes you appreciate what you actually have.
Take it easy and have a great Christmas.

@Rodney18

Wow I'm so happy that you got the best news of your life that day. I know most of us have experienced or know someone who has had difficult times with miscarriages so I'm glad this one ended in a wonderful story.

@Martin.1

I cannot imagine not having my wife for that long. Since I met my wife 12 years ago I haven't been without her longer than 48 hours. Any trips longer than that I bring her with me so I would be an absolute wreck for that length of time without my partner. I'm glad you have her back and definitely puts into perspective what's most important, especially during the holidays.

@tmcmullen

Those early memories with special pets are some of the best

@mmaner

Let's see that shredder

@MunkeyMan

Sometimes you just never forget getting the big chase toy everyone wants that year. I remember getting power ranger megazord in early 90s. Being a parent changes your brain and I love being Santa now.

@Jasper_The_Rasper

That's so interesting you come from a lineage of railway workers. I was also the first in my family not to go into the military (air force intelligence) and my family even moved to Colorado from England air force base so I could attend the air force academy. Little did they know I was happy working at GeekSquad and playing world of warcraft. I bet you have some really cool stuff to go on antiques roadshow

@kleinmat4103

Those old-school home consoles were unforgiving and so hardcore - kids these days have no idea

@Jamesharris85

I'll have to buy that book for my kids!

Good stuff everyone!
