Why doesn't Webroot scan daily as advertised?

Forum|alt.badge.img+1
I'm attaching a picture of my Webroot when I first open it. Notice it says the last scan was 22 hours ago, and the next one is in 19 hours. I am under the impression that there is a scan in the background every 24 hours.
Most of the time, since its so quick, when I see this, I just do a manual scan. But I would like to get the automatic scan.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello @therealsimpsons,

Welcome to the Webroot Community.

You can check your scan schedule by doing the following...

Open Webroot and click on 'Advance Settings' in the upper-right.

Then select 'Scheduler' from the left column.

Check to be sure your settings are as you'd like them. Be sure to click 'Save' if you make any changes.

If after checking your settings you still aren't getting the daily scan then I suggest you contact Webroot Support and have them determine why it's not scanning.

Hope this info helps,

Hello Burn Daddy,
Go Cubs!
I checked those settings. Did them again, and saved them. I had them set, might not have saved them. We'll see.
Thank you.

You're welcome @therealsimpsons, let us know how it goes. If it's still not scanning on schedule you might want to try a clean install before contacting support, if you're up to it, otherwise support will get you straightened out.

Yes, Go Cubs!!!

Opening Day is a week from today. Finally, and end to our Westeros-like winter. 😄

Here are some things I can think of that may be causing this issue. Bullet numbers match numbers in image. If you don't have them checked then they don't apply.

  1. If you are doing anything that requires intense processing on your PC the scan is either put off for x hours or until the next scheduled scan. I couldn't find out which one, sorry.
  2. If your PC was off, it will scan at bootup instead of the time you set.
  3. If this is a laptop and it is not plugged in, it will skip the scan. Same as point 1, I don't know if it will try later or wait until the next scheduled scan.
  4. Basically this is similar to point 1 to keep Webroot from interrupting what you are working on or the game you are playing. Also like point 1, I don't know if it will try later or wait until the next scheduled scan.
  5. This shouldn't throw your scans off as much as you're showing, but it will make them run an hour before or after the scheduled time.

I suggest you have Webroot set to scan when your PC is going to be on, but you probably aren't going to be doing much on it, e.g. lunch. Also, check the top four check boxes. That's what I'd do, but we all have our own preferences.

Good Luck!

I re-set the schedule to 8:00 a.m., and saved it. The top 4 boxes were already checked. I turned the computer on at 8:01 a.m. this morning. It didn't scan then, or anytime after. I re-booted at 11:20 a.m., meaning resources that were missed at 8:00 am were now available, and a scan should have started on the re-boot. It did not.

Hi @therealsimpsons,

Thanks for getting back to us and letting us know how you fared. Sorry to hear that you're still having trouble.

If you're up to it, I recommend a clean install. This usually takes care of most problems. If you want to try that, please do the following.

Please follow the steps closely!

  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Geek Squad Subscription PC users click HERE) Let us know if it is the Mac version you need
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and DO NOT import any old settings as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again

Please let us know if that resolves your issue? If not, then support is the way to go.

Webroot Support

Thanks, and keep us posted on your progress. 🙂

@BurnDaddy's response is the way to go if you want to try and solve it yourself. If you contact support, they may be able to look at your logs and see what's causing the issue. One thing to look for is do you have any dump files in your WRData directory.

Directory Location: C:\ProgramData\WRData
File Name Example: WRSA-S-9.0.17.28-WSASME.EXE.dmp

If you have any dump files this might be an indicator that there is an issue. Reinstalling will normally take care of these. You can also look at the WRLog.log file (in same directory) in a text editor and might see something, but this is pretty advanced so I'd leave that one to support. However, it won't hurt to look, just don't write to the file.

Good Luck!
