I ran the tool bar fix, but it only gave me the password manager. I need the site advisor/url filter, please.
Hi shmu26

Looks like, for some reason, the extensions for Chrome have either been removed or never been there in the first place.  To get around this one can either, with the right link, get hold of them from the App Store or you can use the following workaround.

Navigate to C:ProgramDataWRDataPKG...note that this is a hidden folder and so you will either need to adjust the settings using the Control Panel's Folder Options to view such folders, or you can use the programdataWRData commend in the Search field under the Start Menu and then select the PKG folder from the list provided.

Then, open the Chrome Extensions page in the browser, and at the top of the page check Developer Mode to be 'On'.

After that drag the following file from the from the PKG folder to the Extensions page:

CHROME_1.2.0.nn.crx (where 'nn' will depend on latest version of the extension you have on your system)

awaiting the message that one is trying to install a new extension to which you should answer 'Install'.

Once the extension has been installed uncheck the Developer Mode and enjoy...you should have the extension now working under Chrome.

Not the official way of getting it installed but I hope that helps?

Hello shmu26,

? isn't there also a way to install the Webroot Webfilter  from the Google Store?

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/webroot-filtering-extensi/kjeghcllfecehndceplomkocgfbklffd?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher-info-dialog

I tried both ways, and it is being "blocked by administrator"
Is that a Windows message or a Webroot one?

this is the message I see
Looks like a Chrome sourced message...what version of Chrome do you have installed?
Version 50.0.2661.94 m (64-bit)
Seems to be an issue with Chrome on your system. Please see THIS & THIS post from the Google forums, on the topic.
the registry hack on google forum worked.

but now I am really confused. the extension I installed is called "webroot filtering" on chrome store, as you linked me to it.

But after installing it, I see that it is called "password manager".

So, do I have the right extension or not?
Hi shmu26

Not sure what is going on there as when I check the link that Sherry provided it does point at the Web Filtering Extension, and clicking on 'Install' should have downloaded that for you. I would delete the extrnsion and try getting it from the App Store again.

And if that does not work then you can always try the unofficial method I post previously.

Baldrick
the unofficial way worked for me earlier in the day, but it had the same results. I ended up with the password manager, I think I mentioned this in my first post.

Then I disabled it, and that apparently caused all the problems since then. I thought there were two different extenstions, but it seems the two are one.

In any case, if all I gain from the "missing" exension is url protection, I anyway have adguard and other url filters running, so it's no big deal.
Well, have never come across a case such as this as the .crx extension referenced in the post about the 'unofficial' method is definitively the Web Filtering Extension...the Password Manager one is 'lpchrome.crx'...ssso I am not sure what the prroblem is.

You may want to Open a Support Ticket to get the Support Team to take a look.

my bad. You know, with the new way chrome displays the extenstions, it can get confusing. One of your extenstions was at the beginning, and the other was all the way at the end of the pile, so I didn't see it...
No worries...these things are sent to try us...;)

Hoepfully you have the right one now, and you can uninstall the Password Manager one if you are running WSA AV...as you cannot use it, of course.
