I was wondering if using Anti Exploit and Anti Ransomware software is really necessary when I already use WSA. Recently installed MBAM 3.0 trial but of course now I have another real time program sucking up cpu cycles and slowing down startup. It almost feels like web browsing has also slowed down but that could be my imagination. So in a nut shell are these types of programs just redundant and not necessary when using WSA ?
As Always, Thanks Group

Anti-Exploit/Anti-Ransomware and WSA

Hi Danjo
Well, there are two schools of thought (at least) on this subject...and I would say that generally there is no need for additional AE and/or AR software if you are running WSA. The WSA monitoring & rollback fucntionality is particulalrly effective against ransomware attacks if they happen after WSA is installed.
However, there is also the school of thought that a layered defense is 'better' given that no one security application (not even WSA) can be 100% effective 100% of the time, and so running a specialist secondasry or tertiary app has some merit.
It is really down to personal preference and what you do online, etc. For normal activities...probably no need but if engaging in more 'dangerous' activities then most probbaly best to beef up the defences.
Hope that helps? Just my thoughts on the subject...and I am sure that some of the other members will chime in with their equally valid views. ;)
