Ah, I remember my friend carrying basically a suitcase as the phone was connected to a battery!

OMG, I had one of those. I thought it was so great, because I actually had a IMTS phone in a briefcase before that, and this was so small and light. SIGH!

As I mentioned I had one of these. A BIG battery and an IMTS ( improved mobile telephone service) radio in a brief case. Calls were on one of a few available channels in an area, usually handled by an operator (MTS service) but some IMTS equipped areas let you dial directly without an operator. NOT a cell phone. You listened for the channel to be free (calls were analog and in the clear) and hit transmit to claim the channel. If an operator was managing, you would tell them the number (or they could look it up for you) and put through the call. At the end the operator would repeat “Are you through” several times and then release the channel for the next person. It was crazy expensive.

The rows of buttons were for selecting channels

Ha ha! Funny how this was classed as lightweight!

I got so many Spam calls that I changed my phone number.  Not nearly as many Spam calls so far. Verizon alerts me of Spam calls now. I block and report these creeps. And I guess I won't be calling my bank for Support. It's a full time job to keep your private information safe!! Great to have Conner and Tyler's Security report articles all the time. Thank you 😊
