I’m sure we’ve all heard about social engineering and how it’s used to get you to click on seemingly unsuspicious links, but it can be more involved than that.

 

Who would fall for this?

 

Sometimes there is no link and it’s just a cold call confidence scam

 

Hello your “IP address is flashing red on our server”

 

These are fairly easy to spot and they prey on the elderly population with great success.

But what about more involved and use info that you posted to social media or was leaked online from a hacked database?

 

 

Now lets look at a more involved and less obvious phishing attack 

Does this look legit?

 

Oh noes

 

Ouch

This was a combo of Mailchimp address & phone leak plus phishing through email and then phishing through call to pull off the attack. 

 

I’ll go into details of how this attack worked on the Webinar if you’re interested and how it can work on you at home or at the office because 43% of people in the US are using both home and work devices for both types of tasks.
