Computer Shutting down

Computer keeps shutting down.  Microsoft people tell it's probably infected but Webroot scan said no threats.  I get a  blue screen.  Someplace I read the Ituns and Apple could cause this. Any suggestions?

Hello stelz34, welcome to the Community!

Blue screens can be caused by a LOT of things: hardware, software, etc etc.  While it is possible that it is from an infection, the odds are against it.

In order to figure out how to help or what to do, it would help us to know a few things.

How often are you getting a blue screen?
How long can the computer stay on, and online, without getting a blue screen?
Do the blue screens happen only when your browser is open, or is it random?

Usually a blue screen itself gives an error code.  While to most people these codes are of no more use than Greek, if you are able to provide the code it is possible someone here might be able to give information about it.

Hopefully you can provide a little more info/details, and we will try to go from there :)

Hi stelz34,

Welcome to the Community!

Have you added any hardware or any new programs. It could be a bad driver.

Best Regards,

Let's see what the other expert Forum members say. Ok

Thank you for the reply!

Also, as Sherry asked, have you added any new hardware or updated any hardware drivers or other software just prior to this starting?
