Long boot time

After installing Webroot my notebook boot time increased to 10 seconds instead 5 like before. I know it's not much but it is annoying. I've got Crucial MX100 SSD and i5 processor so that's not a hardware problem. Dont know what is causing this, i i've already disabled sheduled scans after boot.

Hi hivonzooo

Welcoem to the Community Forums.

This is not an issue that we come across very often here as I am not sure that many of us have a usual boot time of 5 seconds.  I do not believe that WSA carries out any scan at boot unless a scheduled scan time has been missed and the option to run a missed scan at boot is enabled.  Having said that, even if thgat were the case then an increase in boot time from 5 to 10 seconds would be a small price to pay for this.

If this is a worry for you then I would recommend that you Open a Support Ticket and get the Support Team to investiagte; they can gather data from your system, analyse it and then confimr or not any involvement by WSA in this.

I will do so further research and post back if I turn up anything on this...but to be honest I doubt I will.

Regards, Baldrick

To add to what Baldrick said other start up programs can cause so boot Ups as I found this new app WinPrivacy and installed it and in the end to remove it because off very slow boot ups. So you might need to look at your other programs to find the culprit. But do as Baldrick said and Contact support to see if any files are being Monitored and they can whitelist them for you on the WIN Cloud Database: http://www.brightcloud.com/platform/webroot-intelligence-network.php

Thanks,

Daniel 😉

Well I thought I said it clearly in the first post that the boot time increased after installing Webroot.

Again any new programs? And again open the main UI and do a scan then Save a Scan Log and look at it to see if you have many [u] (Unknown) files like more than 20 also look at the bottom of the scan log to see if anything is Being Monitored. And if so you need to contact support to whitelist the unknown files. http://www.webroot.com/En_US/SecureAnywhere/PC/WSA_PC_Help.htm#C11_ReportsandViewers/CH11a_SavingScanLog.htm Also WSA is a smart AV most if not all others just know Good or Bad Files WSA knows Good, Bad and Unknown!

I already uninstalled Webroot. It was a good AV on Windows 8, but after upgrading to 8.1 there are always some problems.

I'm running it on Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and I find no issues at all. If you like reinstall WSA and Submit a Support Ticket and they will look into it for you and get it up and running as it's supposed to, fast.

Thanks,

What i found so far is WRkrn.sys driver is causing my system startup to stop for 3-4 seconds. I've checked that in the Windows Logs. WRkrn.sys is loaded into system, holds everything for 4 seconds and then the rest is starting to load. Why is this happening? I've got SSD and 4 seconds to load a small program is huge amount of time.

Hello,

It would be best to Submit a Support Ticket  as Baldrick and TripleHelix advised. It is difficult to diagnose what could cause your slowdowns without gathering more info, and Support can take a look at the logs and advise you.

Thanks.

Not the detailed ones they will ask for but let them have a look please! Webroot is very strict to ones privacy so no worries there.

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
