Is there a way to set Webroot SecureAnywhere to NOT interfere with certain drives or folders?

Hello, I am a software developer using Visual Studio 2015 on Windows 10, and I do not want anything to slow down my work. I want my computer to do compilations and run my test programs as fast as possible, with no delays due to antivirus activity on the part of any security products that I may have running.

I do NOT see any settings within Webroot SecureAnywhere, to designate any folders, or specific disk-drives, to be "hands-off". And the Webroot utility definitely impacts my work - in fact, since installing it - now I see Visual Studio often unable to build, because apparently the utility is locking files (the build artifacts) as it works. This is unacceptable.

Is there a way to designate specific folders to ignore, to be "hands off" to the Webroot utility?  I know what is in my development folders and do not need protection there.

Thank you,

James Hurst

Hi JamesHurst

Welcome to the Community Forums.

At the moment I am afraid that this is not possible but there is a Feature Request raised to provide such a feature. As to when it will be available I am not sure. You obviously know that one can contact Support and get them to whitelist any files that are the subject of false positives but if they change fairly often as I presume they would if yo are developing them then this would not be practical for you.

Thank you Baldrick, I appreciate your taking the time to reply.

That's disapointing, but fortunately I don't do a lot of things to endanger my own box, so I'll just un-install the Webroot utility until this feature is implemented.

When I do need to do things that expose my box to online threats, I do it within a virtual machine, so that I can clear it by simply reverting back to a snapshot.

Hi JamesHurst

Completely understand...so if you have am moment please drop by the Feature that Daniel & I have linked and add your comments/experiences as to why this feature should be introduced and if you feel so minded please kudo the request...the more of these we have attached to the request the more likely we are to see it to fruition and inthe product at some point in the future.

In the business version of WSA this feature has been implemented very recently (through the Web console) - has it not reached the home version yet ?

If you check out the linked Feature Request you will see that it is currently at:

Status: Under Consideration

So hopefully we have not long to wait before it is implemented in the Home version, and given that it is now in the Endpoint Security version would suggest, in my view, that it is not long before it is available in the Home version.
