First Time User of WR Complete & Having Issues Connecting my Wireless Printer

Hi,

I just installed WR Complete today and now I am trying to connect my wireless printer, but I believe it's getting blocked by my new antivirus software, as it use to work before the new install.  I am using Windows 7.  Please help with any suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi Dziner1

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Your use of Windows 7 makes this a some what easier issue to deal with I believe.

The WSA firewall monitors processes that attempt to access the Internet and monitors the ports used for communicating with the Internet. If it is not active it will not need to be monitored. Normally, the first connection results in a prompt to 'Block', 'Allow Once' or 'Allow Always', so it is possible that this has inadvetently been set to the first of these...hence the issue.

However, you do have control over whether WSA will allow or block certain processes and port communications.

To change settings for active connections:

  1. Open the WSA main panel.
  2. Click on the gear/cog to the right of the 'PC Security' tab.
  3. Click the 'Firewall' tab.
  4. At the bottom of the panel, click View Network Applications > The Network Applications dialog opens.
  5. Click on a radio button to allow or block a process or port address related to your printer..Iwould assume that you will find this currently showing as 'Block' given your issue.
For more informaiton on this area please see the Managing active connections help text.

Let us know if that helps and if not then we can look to assist further.
