I have a problem with the Adobe Reader (can't use sticky notes) and want to try some other reader.  The Foxit Reader gets a lot of bad press for installing unwanted and potentially unsafe additional software.  Can't find out much about Evince except it's available on PDFreaders.org - is that a safe site?

PDF-XChange seems to have pretty good reviews - but couldn't find anything about safety.

Any thoughts or suggestions for a safe PDF Reader besides Adobe?

As long as you install Foxit Reader from http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/ you should not get any additional software.

Thanks, I tried both PDF-XChange and Foxit and I like Foxit a bit better. No problems downloading Foxit from the link you suggested.

Adobe still has the most readable text - crisp and clear.
And to add to what Dan suggested...I would opt for the portable version of FoxIt Reader...the same great fucntionality but non invasive on the system.

I would alsways recommend the portable version of any app if it is avaialble, for the very same reasons.
