Hello Joealsteen,

Welcome to the Community Forum,

I've done some research and this is the only article that I can find to tackle this. Please read here.

Maybe  @ has some advice here?

Good advice from Sherry.

If I may add to this discussion, Handles are a necessary part of Windows memory management and are involved with most every process.  From creating files, opening files, closing files, etc. and handles are part of the process.  They allow multiple processes to exist and interact without stepping on each other’s shared memory space.

I’m not sure or how the 'open handle' message presented itself but in my experience in troubleshooting memory issues usually the larger problems with handles has been with having too many open.

Let’s say a program closes and it does not release all of the handles associated with it, memory issues can develop over time.  If a handle is holding a program open it can prevent normal termination of that program.

Ok, I’ll stop going on and on and just say that I checked my explorer.exe and it has 1520 handles open at this point in time.
So unless you have additional issues I would not be too concerned about it.

Just my opinion…

Hello @ would you be using System Analyzer to get this info? If so SA is just a basic tool so I would not read to much into it and you really can't do anything about it. Also as it is only in the WSA-Complete version are you using the Standalone version? http://www.webroot.com/ca/en/business/resources/analyzer any other info would be helpful!

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
