Why does Webroot keep changing the IP of my Ethernet connected shortwave radio?

I've had Webroot two days.  My computer is connected to a shortwave radio via Ethernet.  Since getting Webroot, the IP address of the radio is changed every time I run its software.  I have to fix and re-enter the IP.  It's a pain.

Any fix?

Hi K1ESE

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Well, that is a new one on me...and to be honest I am not sure that WSA would be doing this. Usually the router that you are using to connect to the Internet will governe which IP address the connected items get the use of.

Do you have any additional information to support your supposition?

Regards, Baldrick

Baldrick -

Thanks for the quick response.  The radio is connceted directly to the computer's Ethernet port and does not go through the router.  For interner I use the computer's wireless adapter.

It may be coincidence between installing Webroot and the problem surfacing.  Maybe not.

I may be able to somehow assign a static address to the radio, but without using the router for this connection I am assuming the computer is making the assignment.  Don't know how to make that assignment static.

Thank you,
John

I agree - Webroot doesn't do anything directly to the Internet connections, so it shouldn't be affecting the IP address.

To confirm I'd say temporarily remove Webroot and see if the problem goes away.
