Switzerland welcomes OpenText’s Core Cloud-to-Cloud Backup data centre for revFADP!
Steve.Jones

We are pleased to announce the launch of our newest OpenText Core Cloud-to-Cloud Backup data centre in Zurich, Switzerland. This is the eleventh facility in our global network and reflects our continued commitment to helping organizations address data residency, privacy, and performance requirements in their operating regions.

Why a Swiss data centre matters

Switzerland’s revFADP, effective September 2023, applies to foreign companies serving Swiss residents, requiring a local representative for the FDPIC and 72-hour breach reporting. For instance, a German MSP storing a Swiss retailer’s Microsoft 365 data in Germany may incur compliance costs to meet these obligations.

“We are very pleased about the availability of the new Swiss DC for our OpenText Core Cloud-to-Cloud Backup Service. This gives our customers even more control over where they want to store their backups, including in our own Netcloud Cloud Service with data storage in Switzerland or in OpenText's AWS Swiss data centre”. – Marco Dubini, Platforms Consultant, Netcloud AG

Our Zurich data centre:

  • Helps reduce costs, potentially avoiding a Swiss representative

  • Supports 72-hour breach reporting with faster full-content search, e.g., analyzing ransomware-compromised SharePoint data

  • Improves performance with local data access for Swiss users

  • Maintains confidence with secure Swiss storage

Security and resilience at every location

The Zurich data centre is built to the same high standards as our other global sites. It includes:

  • AES-256 encryption for data at rest

  • HTTPS encryption for data in transit

  • ISO 27001 certification

  • Multi-factor authentication and granular access controls

Symmetric IT Group uses Core Cloud-to-Cloud Backup for its simplicity and reliability. CEO George Lakiotis shares: “We love OpenText Core Cloud-to-Cloud Backup as it is a simple ‘set and forget’ solution, unlike traditional backup tools”.

OpenText™ Core Cloud-to-Cloud Backup:

  • Protects Microsoft 365Google WorkspaceSalesforceBox, and Dropbox with an intuitive UI that streamlines management.

  • Stores backups in OpenText-operated AWS S3 or the customer’s own S3-compatible storage (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Wasabi Storage).

  • Provides granular, point-in-time restore, fast full-content search, unlimited retention with Glacier replication, and legal hold support.

  • Uses transparent, usage-based billing with no overages, license tracking, or hidden charges.

Expanding local options across the globe

In addition to Switzerland, we offer data centres in France, Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom, South Africa, India, Australia, Japan, Canada, and the United States.
