How do I know it has been updated; I see no way to update manually.

There is no need for Definition Updates as it's always up to date also it's the first full Cloud Anti-Malware please see here: http://www.brightcloud.com/platform/webroot-intelligence-network.php the only updates you will get are program updates and the current version is 8.0.4.115 and look here for new Program Updates: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Release-Notes/bd-p/ReleaseNotesWSA
