I’ve been with Webroot as a normal home user for several years, protecting four different devices, and have just renewed for another three, but I’m baffled as to why I have now been sent two CD discs by post - one with my name on, and one without. What am I meant to do with them? And who or what is Carbonite?
Since I can’t see the discs I’m not sure what you have, but perhaps one each of Webroot and Carbonite? If Webroot is already installed, that disc is probably not needed as the app should keep itself up to date. The other may be a Carbonite install disc. If the disc makes you nervous, see this link for Carbonite to download it online (https://www.carbonite.com/carbonite-account-login)
But to answer your second question, Carbonite is a backup service to the cloud for your computer. It’s included now with some plans of WebrootSecure Anywhere. (https://www.carbonite.com). It runs in the background and will automatically back up your important files to a secure cloud storage.
Well thanks a lot for your reply: it’s the only one I’ve had. I asked the same question of Webroot itself via the customer support system and haven’t had a reply at all!
I’ve been very impressed with how Webroot has worked across four different devices for several years, but as a “competent amateur” computer user I find their website/help system, and indeed this one as well, incredibly complicated to navigate.
The CD’s are kinda an archaic “relic” of our past sales structure that we are looking at getting rid of for future retail product sales. For now you can just ignore the CD’s as all you need are the key codes in the box along with a download link to whatever product you purchased.
For your reference, our official webroot SecureAnywhere download link is here: https://www.webroot.com/us/en/home/products/wsa-installer-download
