I will start by saying I am a sales guy, and although I have a sound understanding of the product when I get hit with highly technical questions I cannot always provide the "highly technical" response that is expected.
A prosepctive partner asked why Webroot installs at the MBR. He stated that if we do that we are a rootkit. He also mentioned some other risks that he thought were associated with installing at the MBR. He said if something not relating to Webroot affected the machine and he needed to re-image that would pose a problem (or something along those lines).
Any information regarding the inner-workings of the Webroot Business Endpoint product and the logic behind why it installs at the MBR would be greatly appreciated.

+56Not sure what your prospective partner means by installing at the MBR as we don't make any modifications to the MBR. We do inspect the MBR to detect rootkits and infections that try to hide there. Webroot installs as an application with a kernel driver, a service and an application component.
Maybe the easiest method would be to have your friend call in and talk to support or a sales engineer if they're interested in more details. That way it isn't being filtered through two other people for a game of telephone 🙂
