The badging system now allows for badges to be awarded based on how long you've belonged to the community.  I've added badges for 1 year, 2 year and 5 year anniversaries.  If you've reached those milestones you should now see those badges on your profile:

is 1 year, 2 years and 5 years enough, or should I fill in years 3 and 4 as well?

Personally I think that 1, 2 & 5 years is suffcient...otherwise we will end up get 'badge' up to such an extent that it will become meaningless...;)

Yeah that was my thought as well, but wanted to double-check 🙂

Sounds good. But personally, I like the idea of 1, 3, and 5. It's more spaced out that way. Just my 2 cents.

Badges are a good idea.  I have been reading this blog for ages but never registered. This could be a good thing as people would assume that after years I might know what I'm doing---and I don't!!  But good idea anyway
