🏆 Webroot Total Protection earns top spot (again!) in PassMark test

We’re proud to announce that Webroot Total Protection has ranked #1 overall in its first comparative test by PassMark Software. This benchmark evaluated the performance impact of top all-in-one digital life protection products on Windows 11 PCs — and Webroot came out ahead of six major competitors, including Norton, and McAfee.

Despite being a newcomer to PassMark’s AV testing, Webroot Total Protection finished first across five individual benchmarks and took the highest overall score in the October 2025 edition of the report.

🚀 Fast. Light. Unstoppable.

This latest PassMark report focused on the core performance of antivirus and internet security features, excluding backup and VPN functionality, which are often influenced by ISP speeds and not widely available across competing products.

Here’s how Webroot stood out:

  • 7x faster scheduled scan time

  • 💾 3x less disk space used than competitors

  • 🧠 2x less RAM usage while idle and scanning

  • 🛠️ 12x fewer registry keys added during install

  • 📁 3–5x faster file handling for copy, move, write, open, and delete actions

🥇 1st Place in 5 Key Benchmarks

Webroot outperformed the field in the following categories:

Scheduled Scan Time

Webroot completed a scheduled scan 7x faster than the average competitor.

This chart shows the average time required to complete a scheduled scan. Products with shorter scan durations
are considered more efficient.

Installation Size

Takes up 3x less space on the hard drive than average competitor

This chart compares the total disk space consumed by each product after installation.

Memory Usage (System Idle)

Consumes 2x less memory than the average product while idle

This chart presents the average RAM usage by antivirus processes while the system is idle. Products with lower
idle memory usage are more efficient and less likely to affect multitasking or background performance.

Memory Usage During Initial Scan

Uses 2x less memory than average competitor while scanning

This chart compares the average RAM usage by each product during a manual on-demand scan. Lower memory
usage during scanning reflects more efficient resource management under active protection

Browse Time

Fastest web browsing performance – minimal impact on load times

This chart measures the time taken to load a series of popular websites from a local server using Google Chrome.
Products with lower browse times are considered to have minimal impact on web browsing performance.

📊 Final Scoreboard

Out of a possible 100 points, Webroot earned the highest overall score, beating out established players in the market.

🔍 About the Test

PassMark Software’s benchmark tests were conducted in October 2025 on Windows 11 (64-bit), comparing seven leading security products. The test environment excluded non-comparable features like VPN and cloud backup to focus on what really matters: lightweight protection and everyday system performance.
