The World Leaks group accessed and released data from the company's Customer Solution Center, which is separated from customer and partner systems and stores primarily "synthetic" datasets used for demos and testing, Dell said.

Dell has confirmed that it was the victim of a ransomware attack by the emerging World Leaks extortion group, but the technology giant downplayed the impact of the incident despite the release of data that was exfiltrated from its network.
Earlier this month, the ransomware group — which emerged recently from the remains of the now-shuttered Hunters International ransomware gang — posted data that it claimed to have exfiltrated from the network of the hardware maker. However, Dell claims the data is not sensitive since it's "fake," as it's from a breach of its Customer Solution Center and is used only for demonstrations and testing.
