Being the target of a drone strike might not be so bad if you live in China.  In fact, it might just mean you're getting a delivery from Amazon.

From BusinessInsider:

Shenzhen-based Chinese delivery company SF Express is in the early stages of putting drones in the skies that can deliver packages to remote areas according to the South China Morning Post.

SF Express has begun testing the drones in Guangdong province’s Dongguan city, and SCMP reports that the drones are "outfitted with eight propellers, comes complete with a space where packages can be inserted and can reach a flight altitude of about 100 meters."

Don't expect to see these friendly neighborhood drones delivering pizzas in your vicinity any time soon though.  Most countries have regulations against commercial use of drones.

Still, this is technology that has some major potential.  Fuel concerns, automation, and remote service are just some of the possible benefits.  Now if they can make one that delivers Chinese food to my 8th floor office window, I'll be really impressed.  🙂
