Something is different; it appears that now I have to go through the Edge browser to get to our community. Is this true?

No, that is not correct. I use any number of browsers for all sorts of reasons and have accessed it with Edge, IE, Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi, etc.
It must be as Lyle states...your default browser must be Edge so Edge will be used to open every link/url you click on.
Is that the case?
