I'm not a huge expert on this,but just a quick question to start.Are you using an adblocker that filters HTTPS connections?I have read of issues like this being caused by the browser not importing the certificate automatically for the adblocker,in which case you would probably want to check out your adblockers support information on their site.

In these cases your best best is to google...in this case "ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR" and you will find plenty of help and guidance from reputable sources.  Take a look at a few and see how you get on with them.  Often the suggestions will be in a thread to which other users will have commented so you should be able to assertain the common view of the efficacity of the suggested method.
