Hi everyone, hope you can help.
Need to uninstall Freemake Video Downloader, it's thrown up a message asking if I want Uninstall to remove a shared file as it is no longer in use by any programme -
file name swresample-0.dll
location C:Programme Files (x86) FreemakeCOM1.1
click either
Yes Yes to all No No to all
it does say that if any programms still use the file then they won't run properly without it, but also says it would not do any harm if it is left on. Just wondering what to do for the best.
Just recently, think when I updated Windows Media Player, I can't play films, music, can't view some pictures when using it. Saying that 'Windows Media Play encountered a problem when playing this file'.
I'm trying to make my laptop run a bit quicker as it's become very slow over the last month; any suggestions?
Linda

Hello @ ,
My best advice is to submit a Support Ticket and have them remove this from your computer. This is very important to get off of your computer because yes it will degrade your preformance and hijack and redirect your browser.
Kind Regards,

Will it be safe to hand over my system to Webroot for this purpose though?
Hi LoopyLinda,
I am not sure what you are saying? Yes I would have Webroot check out your system because of this Freemake Video Downloader if you cannot remove this from All Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall it from there.
Freemake Video Downloader is a computer application that is available at freemake.com and other websites promoting free applications. The downloader is said to work on over 10,000 websites, including the most popular ones, such as YouTube and Vimeo. However, you should be very attentive when installing this program, be it downloaded from the official website or other source, including softonic.com and cnet.com, as it is bundled with several applications, some of which are already flagged as potentially unwanted programs.
Please have a look here and follow these instructions on how to remove these PUAs and if you cannot remove this yourself then I'd submit that support ticket.
Hope this helps,

Thanks Sherry!
I managed to uninstall with, hopefully, PUAs too.
I just have problems with the Windows Media Center/Player, not recognising my pictures or videos saying there's a problem with the file (?) (used to work before). 😞

Hi LoopyLinda,
You are welcome!
Please have a look here at Microsoft http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/my-media-files-no-longer-show-up-in-the-windows/606d50d2-ac9b-4eaf-abfd-70e51d227e8c?auth=1 and here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/playing-videos-in-windows-media-center-frequently-asked-questions
Not sure why you are having these issues with Windows Media Center but can you go to System Restore and restore back to the time Windows Media Center was working?

I'm not really sure what's going on Sherry, going to get the techies to take a look at it and hopefully put things right again.
Not saying that I'm going to but, do you know if it's OK to download the free 'SaveFrom.net helper extension - savefrom.com ? I've used it a couple of times to download from Utube with no probs and think it might be a good idea to have it.

Hi Linda,
I wouldn't be installing anything until you get support to check out your system, IMO Things could get worse.
You can go here to BrightCloud and check the URL to check out this SaveFrom.net helper extension - savefrom.com
I have checked this as well and this is what I'm finding.

Thanks a billion Sherry, I'll definitely wait!
A very useful web site, I've been looking for some way to check sites like this, doesn't Webroot have this facility?
