how come helperbar and searchfinder don’t show up as virus and malware when doing a scan, and how do I get rid of them

they display in google chrome browser everytime i start chrome, and they are not homepage or search engines in the setting and there are no extension

Hey @rwen ,

These do indeed sound like an adware of some sort. I’m surprised they aren’t showing up in a Webroot scan, but perhaps they are not malicious enough to do so. You’re sure you don’t have them listed in your chrome extensions? Go to your preferences in chrome and double check to make sure you don’t have anything listed in your settings that looks like an add-on or downloaded search bar.

 

If that doesn’t turn up anything, you could try fully uninstalling chrome and reinstalling it.
