Apparently he had a fall on the stairs in his home and then passed away in hospital yesterday.
Giger's "Necronom IV," from H.R. Giger's Necronomicon, published originally in 1977. This image heavily influenced the final look of the eponymous alien in Ridley Scott's 1979 film.
