I have run my virus cleaners. I will reboot. Then I will **bleep** down Internet protection so flow of updates will not be hindered.

Then I will begin Windows Update to assure I have downloaded sucessfully. Then, check results and retry Window 10 Upgrade.

Any other suggestions?
Full problem above. Trying to clear viruses with scan aand reboot. Then, open Internet not to block any Window updates. Then I will retry to Down and instal Win 10 again.  Any other suggestions?

Hi PDW

Not seen that one and it does not register as a regular Microsoft error code.

Having said that there should be no need to reduce or remove your internet protection whilst downloading updates...I have been running WSA for years and have never had need to shut down protection to get Windows Updates.  I have in rare cases had to do so for other downlaods but not WIndows Updates and certainly not for the downlaod of Windows 10 onto the machine ahead of then upgrading.

To be honest I do not think that there are any special preparations that you need to make before upgrading other than those provided when you click and display the 'Get Windows 10' icon lurking in the notificaiton tray area.

I got another error code.   80240016  Something is preventing the download. It is not a virus, I am sure.

I have scores of failed Updates. Maybe what I need to update is among them. How do I activate these updates?
When I tried to do the update through Windows Update I also got an error message. When I went to the MS site directly it worked:
