Does this sound familiar? You’ve got multiple tabs open in your browser and all of a sudden, music or voices blares from one of them. You scramble to find the audio icon on that tab, open the page and scroll down to stop the video that’s playing.

There’s a faster way to shut down that sound.

A new feature with the Windows 10 April 2018 Update can mute tabs in Microsoft Edge.

Here’s how to do it:

To mute a tab in Microsoft Edge, click the audio icon

Simply click the audio icon or right-click the tab to choose Mute from the drop down menu.

Awesome Daniel!:D
Thank you Daniel, I was wondering how to do that.
I still don't use Edge, and have never liked Microsoft browsers. Guess I'm still miffed about being forced to use IE, back in the day. From the sound of it, they still haven't learned their lesson. :@

Firefox has had the option since 2015.

Chrome has this option, too, but you have to right-click the tab to select the mute option.

If you don't see the mute option in the right=click menu the enter...

chrome://flags/#enable-tab-audio-muting

into Chrome's address bar to enable.

Thanks for posting @. Not meaning to diminish the post in any way. Just providing info for other browsers, for people like me who don't/won't use Edge. 😉
Well @

I rarely use Edge. But it  is apart of Windows 10 Insider Previews.  So it's good to use it to find any bugs or issues.

I do like all the new things Edge has to offer though. I am a Firefox die hard. 😉 Edge has come a long ways since Internet Explorer and I can understand the why's of why you don't use Edge. ;)

I'm rather enjoying Edge but it's not my default yet...
