I want to uninstall Webroot Secure Anywhere trial version, Mac OS X, (so that I can install one of three WR applications that I purchased on another computer).  When I try to drag it to trash, it won't, because it's open.  I can't figure out how to close it.  How do I close, and uninstall, an expired trial version of Webroot?

Hello there, welcome to the Community!

I am no expert when it comes to Macs... I have never used one, so I would like ? to double check me on this.

Edit: Sherry beat me to it.  Thank you!!

Much of the time, you do not need to uninstall a trial in order to install a newly purchased copy.  Give this a quick try:

  • Click the gear tool next to My Account
  • Enter your new key code into the box provided
  • Click Activate

See if that will work, and if not please let us know.  Those are the directions for a PC copy, but I THINK the directions are the same.

? it depends on which trial version was installed and which permanent license was purchased.  If the trial was directly from Webroot, and the purchased license is a standard key code, that will work.

If the trial was a Best Buy version, and the purchased license is also a Best Buy version, it will work.

If the tiral and the purchased are NOT the same, it will not work. 🙂

Hi ?,

I just took it for granted that he might have a different Webroot license.

So Thank you for explaining that so well! Youj are so correct!!;)

You are also quite correct ?. If the quick and easy activation of the new key code fails, a quick reinstall will do the trick.
