"waiting for filtering extension" slowing down Chrome A LOT; takes web pages forever to load

My new (few months) laptop has been running great up until today.  Now it takes FOREVER for web pages to load and in the bottom left it says something like "waiting for webroot filtering extension".  I noticed that there are some older posts with this issue but I havent seen any very recent ones.  I have turned off the extension in Chrome and finally now it is back to normal.  Is there any issue with turning off the filtering extension?  I would consider myself a pretty smart web user and dont go to any 'shady' sites in my opinion.  Is there a fix to this issue??

Thanks for any help!

Hello ?,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

Would you  Submit a Trouble Ticket with Webroot Support and have them take a look.  There might be a slowdown with your internet connection, but it is also possible there is a small issue at Webroot's end as well that needs a quick look.  Webroot does update the Filter Extension from time to time, and we do not often have this issue reported, so I am guessing that any additional information about it that Webroot gets will be a help to everyone . This service is free of charge with active subscription.

Kind Regards,
