Running on Windows 7
For the past two months I have seen the length of time rise on the nightly scan from ~2min to 40+ min. Have not installed anything except LibreOffice - though the scan time was impacted before that.
Running 'disk cleanup' showed 7GB of temporary MS Update files, whcih have since been deleted (via cleanup).
Running %temp% from the search box identified 28K files, and a majority of those have since been deleted.
Rerunning scan *still* not improved, and still walking through many temporary files.
Haven't rebooted the system in a while, is this windows solution (reboot) recommended?
Thanks in advance
Solved
scan has gone from ~2m to ~40min. run disk cleanup and %temp% search to no avail. Thoughts?

Baldrick,
Gold Star!
even though I had enabled hidden directories in the explorer windows, content.ie5 was only accessible via the CMD.COM.
Many thanks as I have eliminated many (unfortunately not all) of the files contained within.
