After two years of virtual SpiceWorld events, we were once again able to reunite IRL with the amazing Spiceworks community in Austin, TX! There weren’t as many attendees as in years past, the hybrid event helped make it feel like we are getting closer to what normal looks like at in-person events. For many of us at OpenText, it was our first time going to SpiceWorld and it was quite a treat.

This was my first SpiceWorld so I can’t compare to previous years, but all in all - I was really impressed with how well organized this event was! The registration was easy and the welcome reception on Wednesday evening combined with the expo vendor booths was a great start to the 3 day event. The sessions that I was able to catch were very engaging and informative.
There were several keynotes sessions, tech-rich and sponsored sessions, a passport to prizes challenge for the attendees, networking and information sharing opportunities and the super-charged energy and creativity made this a memorable experience. And I can’t forget about the swag - TONS of swag giveaways!

OpenText Security Solutions (Webroot/Carbonite/Zix) was there in full force this year with a 10x20 super vibrant and hard to miss booth. We had so much fun connecting with our fellow vendors, SPICEHEAD community members, partners and customers! We had a Plinko board that basically served as a swag dispenser/conversation starter - branded socks and water bottles were flowing like a river!

Everyone that attended one of our booth presentations with our VP of Product Marketing, Yatin Chalke and Director of Product Marketing, Sam Kumarsamy, was entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of the highly coveted Millennium Falcon Lego sets.

Yatin and Sam shared our finding and analysis on threat research, the impact and how our products align to what we refer to as the cyber resilience solution. Did you know that you can try a lot of these products before making an investment? #TryBeforeYouBuy

And speaking of presentations… Sam did a fantastic job continuing the conversation about cyber resilience in our sponsored speaking session. Props to Mr. Kumarsamy - he’s got a very good stage presence and is highly skilled at engaging a crowd of people.

One of the big highlights of our week was getting the chance to interview a long-time Webroot Endpoint Protection customer, Nationwide Healthcare. With the help of the Spiceworks video crew, our manager of customer advocacy, Lisa Matzdorff, was able to cycle through a set of questions about the business problems he was able to solve by adopting Webroot Endpoint Protection. Keep an eye out of the finished video testimonial on Webroot.com.

Then there was the SpiceWorld Digital Wonderland Party. One of our partners, NinjaOne, was the sponsor of the fun-filled evening of tasty bites and drinks, live music, games and unexpected entertainment.

The week wouldn’t have been possible without all of these lovely people! Was really great meeting some of my colleagues (and even my manager, Lisa!) in person for the first time. We all had a lot of fun engaging with everyone at SpiceWorld and look forward to next year!

It would be super lame to write a summary about our week in Austin without providing you with a food pic! On Wednesday night, a bunch of us went out to a local favorite - Terry Black’s BBQ. This counter-serve restaurant had a stellar selection of smoked meats - loved it!

That’s a wrap for SpiceWorld 2022. I hope you enjoyed the brief rundown!
