If you use an RMM/MDM for Mac management, this seems pretty important. This is from JumpCloud, but I think it applies to any Mac management platform.

If you want to be able to delay the release of macOS Ventura, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to macOS 12.6.1 as soon as Apple releases it.

I’m the opposite @Jamesharris85 im all Mac apart from the odd client

There are a few ways to stop upgrades and most management solutions have a setting.

usually you can also use the built in terminal command of softwareupdate --ignore specifying the macOS version name and it works

We are getting more and more Mac partners and have been using Addigy as an RMM/MDM solution.

As I understand, that command won’t work for more than 30 days on 12.6. You’ll want to upgrade to 12.6.1 if you want to delay by longer than that.

Yep. Addigy is a good option if you haven’t a big budget for something like Jamf.

yes, that command is just a delay but it’s handy for those that don’t have any mdm to atleast prevent the risk of bricking macs on day one of release!

Yeah. Jamf is crazy expensive for corporate. We have a few clients on it, but only because they get the education/non-profit discount. Personally like Addigy a lot better, but maybe that’s because the GUI is more similar to an RMM.

Gotta love the Mac OS early adopters!

We push Jamf where we can but it can be hard to convince clients with the cost.

Early adopters, pain in my ***

It’s especially annoying because Mac is constantly bugging people to upgrade as soon as they release the new OS. And Apple could care less if they break things.

We’re mostly a Windows shop and Macs are the bane of my existence. At least Addigy makes management doable.

Yes. It’s getting very pushy with all the notifications. Most of the time all is good though.

Upgrading to a new macOS does seem to cause issues more than it used to though.

Yes! I used to work at Apple and they love this phrase. It used to be true too. Nowadays though, with a new os coming out ever year, they can’t have the time to fix all bugs before they start working on the next one!
