I just booted my Samsung Galaxy Note 8" , Webroot says need update, but won't?
Webroot says it needs to check for updates, even though I've set it to do so automatically. And I'm sorry, but this is not the type of support I had in mind. I have to choose a board? HTH do I know who can help?

Would you restart your device and see if Webroot will update after the reboot?
Also if Webroot is wanting to update your definitions you can tap the Menu up at the upper right hand corner/General Settings.Support Options/Force license check.
