Yesterday Wall Street Journal recommended downloading free antimalware from https://www.malwarebytes.org/

Does this add to the services already provided by webroot, or is this redundant?
Hello lyrod,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

The answer to that is yes you can. Please have a look at this thread https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus/Malwarebytes-PRO/m-p/61113#M3136

Webroot SecureAnywhere is fully compatible with other mainstream antivirus products and

will work alongside any existing antivirus software to detect and remove any threats it

misses, and to protect your financial and personal information.

You will not be asked to uninstall your existing antivirus when installing Webroot

SecureAnywhere.

Some of us on the Forum do use both, it's up tp you. If you already have Malwarebytes then by all means you can use it together with Webroot.

Just to add to Sherry's answer, several of us also just use the free version of MBAM from time to time as a second opinion scanner. It was the free version that you were referring to I believe lyrod.

Here is the link to the WSJ article referred to by the OP. Some decent info there.

I have to repeat my question- I am not asking whether or not malwarebytes can be run with webroot- I am asking if malwarebytes adds to the security of webroot- another way to look at it- Is webroot not sufficient protection from malware?

If so, what else is missing from webroot?
In reality, WSA is all you need but as I mentioned earlier, some of us also gain a little extra peace of mind by occasionally scanning with MBAM. Since this can be done for free and is not a drain on resources, it seems a no-brainer to me.

I would also add that MBAM tends to be more aggressive against PUPs/PUAs than WSA and so it may find some that WSA deems acceptable and you may not.
