When I'm in a motel and needing to log into their open network, Webroot Anywhere causes a problem.  If the network login opens a browser Window where I have to go through steps to enter a code, there's a message at the bottom of the first window that Webroot is looking to check the site, which it can't do since without being able to use the site I have no network connections.  I've had to temporarily diable Webroot to make the network connection, and then restart it.  Since this is a common situation for laptop users, there must be some fix but I haven't been able to find it.
Hello

The best thing to do is to Open a Support Ticketand ask Webroot Support to take a look  this for you.  There is no charge for this if you are a WSA license holder, with a current subscription.
Hi donb

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You should not have to disable WSA to do what you are trying to do and so Petrovic is correct in terms of ultimately a support ticket should be raised with the Support Team re. this issue, so that they can investigate it for you.

But in the short term (for future reference), and to confirm or not that WSA is the issue, you can shut down WSA protection by right clicking on the notification tray icon, and from the context menu displayed selecting 'Shut down protection'.  You will then need to enter the CAPTCHA code displayed and WSA should then be off.

But as soon as you are connected your first action should be to double click the WSA desktop icon to restart WSA and therefore the protection of your device, as it is inadvisable to be connected to the internet, especially where you are, without its protection.

Hope that helps?

Thanks!  That is exactly what I've been doing and it works.   I was away when I wrote the note, now that I'm not traveling I could do a support ticket....
Hi donb

You are most welcome...just make sure that you open that SUpport Ticket so that the Support Team can get to the root of your issue so that you won't have to use the woraround any more.

The response from Webroot Support was.......... disable Webroot Anywhere to get logged in.  That seems odd, I just read a statistic that 75% of laptop users log in to public networks.
Hi donb

Many thanks for feeding this back...I agree that it does seem strange given that in the cas eof laptops one would be expecting them to have to loconnect tothe internet by such means more often then not.

Having said that we have asked and had a response so I suppose that there is not much that can be done in the circumstances.

I'm going to wander around town connecting to the network in various public places.  If the problem persists, I'll take Webroot off the laptop and just drop down to Windows Defender.  Up until getting this laptop a month ago I got by perfectly fine with MS Security Essentials on my previous laptop -- I only started Webroot because Best Buy had it for a good price.  I only use the laptop for simple stuff like checking email, don't do risky bank checking etc. with it while on the road.
Just a thought, and can't see if it's been suggested or tried, but at these times when there is a problem making a connection to e.g. Motel/Hotel Network, could it be worth checking if anything is being blocked like in  PC Security>View Active Connections, and Block/Allow Files,

And taking a look at Control Active Processes and Identity Protection also to ensure no blocks.

Sorry if this has already been tried, or mentioned.
