Hello and Welcome to the Webroot Community!

May I ask which OS you are using as there are 2 versions of Windows Defender?

Thanks,

Daniel 😉

Hello and Welcome to the Webroot Community Forums!

Yes
Webroot SecureAnywhere can either replace or work alongside your
existing antivirus software.
Webroot SecureAnywhere is fully compatible with other mainstream antivirus products and
will work alongside any existing antivirus software to detect and remove any threats it
misses, and to protect your financial and personal information.
You will not be asked to uninstall your existing antivirus when installing Webroot
SecureAnywhere.

What's the difference between the new Windows Defender and Webroot SecureAnywhere?

Well on Win 8, 8.1 and Win 10 Preview they will not run together unless you make a change in the registry!

Windows Defender Tweak if users want to run with WSA on Windows 8 & Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 detects other AVs in the Action Center and blocks Defender from becoming active.

You can create a value of type DWORD named HideActionCenter (under HKLMSoftwareWRData on 32bit or for 64bit HKLMSoftwareWow6432NodeWRData) set to '1' and reboot and it will prevent Webroot from adding into the Action Center to allow Defender to stay active.
