Hi peeps!
Over the last few months I've been getting loads of 'Overdue Invoice' emails from such people as, among many others, 'Joanne Medley, of Global Arrow Group Plc', and 'Kevin Braine, of Avocet Mining', - I've never heard of them. Although I was initially worried to think that I owed someone money and should open them straight away, needless to say I didn't but deleted them. Thank God!
These horrible little emails come with an attachment of a malformed PDF file (so I've read) which when opened will infect your machine. I've since updated my Adobe Reader as the PDF might open in preview and therefore infect without you clicking on anything.
Does WSA Antivirus have the means to stop these emails getting through of should I update to Complete?

Hi Linda
Hope that you are well?
Well done, for not being suckered in by these little nasties.
In response to your question; Complete offers no major protection advantages over Antivirus...the main differences are in the provision of the Password Manager and Backup and Sync functionality (for details on the key difference please see here), and therefore none of the WSA versions offer any fucntionality that will effectively block spam, which is essentially what the basic issue is albeit with a twist in that the unsolicited emails have a malware payload.
For that sort of functionality you will need to look at some of the standalone solutions that there are on the market (a few free ware but mainly paid). But in the first instance I would contact you ISP/email service provider and inform them of this...these days may ISPs block spam on their servers, i.e., before the emails are transferred to the recipient...and it may be a case that they can do something about this for you.
Alternatively, if you PM me I can provide you with a list of spam handling apps...if that is the path that you decide to take.
Hope that helps?
Regards, Baldrick

Hi Baldrick
I'm fine thanks. Thanks for the info re: Complete. I'll let Virginmedia (my email provider) know about the problem first, see if they can do anything for me, probably not though - their customer care is abysmal.
Cheers! Linda

Hi Linda
Funny that, but until very recently my ISP/email provider was Virginmedia (due to us not being on fibre optic broadband here Virgin has sold off it's copperwire business to TalkTalk) and I have to say that they have been remarkably good at preventing most spam reaching us.
I have gotten a standalone anti spam app, just to control what I call 'mild' spam, i.e., not really spam but more nuisance emails from senders who won't take a desist request when they get one, but to be honest have never gotten anything as nasty as you describe through to my inbox yet with Virgin (and I am one of their original customers from when they first started out).
