Have you recently downloaded and installed any new software on your system, and after which the popups started? And of so then which? Are the popups limited to when you have a browser open or do they popup at any time you are logged on, i.e., outside the browser? Is there any discernable source or author of the popups, i.e., are they promoting something specific and/or point you at a website or phone numer to conact?

 

Answers to the above should assist in further refining the determination of the cause of the issue.

good morning, my daughter decided to play her games on my computer; now we get an additional web page labled(ad) from her game. It is not a countionous pop up just an additional web page along with the page that we are currently browising

On the assumption that they are in browser then you best bet is to add a popup blocker, as and add on or extension, to the browser or browsers that you use. Here are some suggestions based on what many in the Community use:

 

For Internet Explorer Ad Block Plus: https://adblockplus.org/

 

For Firefox uBlock: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/?src=ss or Privacy Badger: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/privacy-badger-firefox/

For both Chrome & Firefox I would personally would recommend uBlock Origin...to get it just go to the browser's addon/extension manager page and search for it, install it and then configure it. That should get rid of a lot of popups. See below for some specific links re. the blockers recommended.

 

For Edge (if using Windows 10) you can activate the built in popup blocker...let us know if you need guidance re. that.

It is quite simple really, if you are referring to the ad popup blockers; say you are using Chrome then all you have to do is click on the link provided for say uBlock Origin in relation to Chrome and that will open a new tab in Chrome with the page from the app store for the extenstion.

 

There should be a button in the right hand corner of the section of the page describing the addon...labeled 'Add to Chrom'. All you do is to click on that and follow the instruction provided and that should complete the installation.

 

For the Firefox-related links you open them in Firefox and the process is similar.
