I finally figured out how to renew my Web-Root subscription and here is how I did it:

1) - On the edge of the monitor screen, find and open, by double left clicking:  File Explorer icon

2) - Left click on:  Windows ( C: ) icon

3) - Open:  Program Files folder

4) - Right click on:  Webroot folder

5) - Left click on: n Properties

6) - Left click on:  Security

7) - Left click on: change permissions Edit icon radio box

😎 - Right click on:  Users

9) - Left click on:  Full control Allow box

10) - Left click on:  Apply radio box

11) - Left click on:  OK radio box

12) - Left click on:  OK radio box

13) - Close out File Explorer window by left clicking on: Upper right corner X radio box

14) - Go to Windows Start Icon and right click

15) - Left click on:  Search

16) - Type the following into the box exactly, including quotation marks:  "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" -uninstall

17) - Left click on: Magnifying Glass icon

18) - A window appears with an app called:  "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" -uninstall

19) - Left click on:   "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" -uninstall app radio button

20) - You may have to give permission for Webroot to make changes to your computer

21) - Confirm that you want to uninstall

22) - Type in confirmation characters and continue

23) - You may have to report to Webroot that you are renewing your subscription

24) - Go to: http//www.webroot.com/us/en/support/pcintaller
 25) - When asked, Run:  wsainstall.exe 26) - When prompted, enter: Product Key code in blocks of 4 with dashes between blocks 27) - Left click on:  Agree and Install 28) - You may have to give permission for Webroot to make changes to your computer 29) - THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT; DO NOT automatically import with previous installation settings, select:  No radio box (NOTE: default is Yes, don't accidentally hit enter!!!! instead, select:  No!!!!!!!!) 30) - Wait for scan to complete and you are now done until your next renewal! Thank you, John Masters

Hello @,

Welcome to the Webroot Community!

I am unsure why you had to take these steps to apply a renewal with Webroot.

If you renew an existing keycode the days will be added automatically, if they are not, a simple uninstall and reinstall from the control panel will suffice unless there is a backend issue.

If you have received a new keycode(not considered a renewal) you simply need to click the gear icon next to My Account and enter your new keycode in the field provided.

There are instructions for doing that here as well.

Best Regards,

Was this by chance the BestBuy Geeksquad version? Just wondering if maybe the steps are more involved with that version. Although logically it shouldn't be any different then the Retail version, I have seen stuff like this before so that is why I ask.

When it doesn't happen to you, many people think that the individual just didn't know what they were doing. If only they followed these easy steps. Well, it happened to me. I contacted Webroot and they said oh, it's easy, just do this. Next time, just do that. And, so on. Well, that's what these forums are for; for people to share their experiences. Now, when I went to update my 2 other computers, like I had a choice of which ones to include in the 5 licenses, they had already been updated. I have found that often, if it involves computers, it's not always as simple as how it worked with the other person. You kind of had to have been there.

Thank you for your help, though.
