WHY DOESN'T WEBROOT STOP SPYWARE ?
Hi kbaport

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Like many other anti malware application WSA does intercept and block PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applicaitons) which can be one source of popups/adware but the other source which generally occur in browser just as a result of visiting a web site it does not block...that is not its purpose.

To block this latter type of popup you need to either enable the browser's inbuilt popup blocker (IE/Edge) or add a suitable adware/popup blocker extenstion (IE/Chrome/Firefox/Opera). Here are some suggestions of such blockers that we have found to be useful:

For Internet Explorer Ad Block Plus: https://adblockplus.org/

For Firefox uBlock Origin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/?src=ss or Privacy Badger: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/privacy-badger-firefox/

Google Chrome uBlock: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en or Privacy Badger: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/privacy-badger/pkehgijcmpdhfbdbbnkijodmdjhbjlgp

Hope this helps and if not then please get back to us as we may need to provide information on PUAs and how to deal with them (but do not want to do that until we are certain as to the source of the popups).

Regards, Baldrick
