My installation of Google Chrome seems to crash everytime it loads after I installed Webroot?

I have recently taken delivery of a brand new laptop with Windows 8.1 (deep joy not!!). I have installed Chrome and Webroot. Now my Chrome crashes on opening and I cannot get into it. Firefox and IE are both fine. 
 
If I disable Webroot the issue persists but if I reinstall Chrome with Webroot disabled I can get it to work. Once I enable webroot everything works until I reboot the machine and then I get the same crash as before.
 
Has anyone else experienced this? I have the same configuration working fine in Windows 7!
