I have read several posts about the "Personalized Security Report". I agree with all the opinions expressed so far about how annoying and intrusive this pop-up is. I do not want to be reminded about my "personalized security report". I don't even want the silly report. The only time I want to hear from my AV software is when there is a problem that needs my attention.
This notification continually appearing at start up is preventing me from troubleshooting another issue that requires me to boot into the Start Menu and not into the desktop. So currently, Webroot is *causing* me problems, and that is unacceptable.
The balloon notification about the security report is borderline spam. If I choose to view the report, I get taken to a web page that is more advertising than report. That is offensive when I've already paid for a 10-seat license. How much more money do you think I should spend to avoid being exposed to marketing nonsense like this? The point of the report is obvious -- you want me to keep renewing my subscription and to convince me to do that you show me statistics designed to make me feel all warm and fuzzy about Webroot's effectiveness. Please stop doing that. Further, the statistics aren't all that impressive -- they are nothing more than what anyone should expect from an effective AV suite.
I originally purchased Webroot several years ago because the product was light, fast, unobtrusive and effective. With this report fiasco, Webroot is starting down the path that has made so many other AV products so distasteful.
Please fix this ASAP.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi jmbellune
If you follow this link you will find that there is a feature request for a change to deal with the issue. The official status is:
Status: https:///t5/Ideas-Exchange/idb-p/Ideas/status-key/UnderConsideration
Just heard back that this one is under consideration by the product management team. I'll update when they've made a determination. So, if you have not alread, why not gon on over and kudo the feature request, and add your comments to it too...the Development Team are bound to see them and take them into consideration...and hopefully it may just swing the 'Consideration' in our favour. ;) Regards, Baldrick

Hi Baldrick,
Thank you for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately, this intrusive new "feature" is serious enough that it warrants more than just "under consideration". There are enough unhappy users, and few (if any) users that actually want this balloon notification, to justify its immediate removal.
Further, there is no reason for the balloon notification to appear on each and every restart. I seriously doubt the designers of this report thing intended for it to appear every time the computer is started or logged into, even after the user has viewed the report. That moves this problem from the realm of "feature request" to BUG, and it better be (insert favorite expletive here) fixed right away!
Cheers,
Jeff
EDIT: As things stand now, I have to uninstall Webroot completely to perform my needed troubleshooting. I hope you will agree that is a ridiculous step to have to take just because of a balloon pop-up!

Hi Jeff
No problem.
You may well be right re. what your suspicions are but as it stands I very much doubt that anything other than consideration of the feature request is on the cards at the moment. We have just to hope that the consideration occurs quickly and comes down in our favour.
However, perhaps our most excellent Product Manager@ may be able and willing to shed some light on this subject?
Regards
Baldrick

I forwarded this thread to Shawn by email too - great minds think alike Baldrick 🙂
Indeed, Nic
Your input and attention on this one is as always...much appreciated.

Would it help if I submitted a support request as well? From my reading, the last person to do that was told to uninstall and reinstall, and the support effort ended there. Uninstall/reinstall is going to happen here anyway, so I didn't submit a request.
If support gets involved, I assume they will want system reports and other stuff? Can support get any useful info from those reports if Webroot has already been uninstalled?

Sure - extra support tickets help. The more volume they see in the support queue, the higher priority it gets.
Fair enough -- thanks.
