I just ran a scan on my computer using a a non-webroot antimalware. It tells me I have several iterations of something called
PUP.optional.downloaderguide.a,
PUP.optional.visualbee.a,
PUP.optional.crossrider.a,
Webroot Complete tells me everything is clean and golden. Just how dangerous are these "PUP." things? And what are they?

Here is some info about PUP's and also called PUA's https://community.webroot.com/t5/Tips-and-Tricks-KB/How-to-Remove-Potentially-Unwanted-Applications/ta-p/40744#.UwgCOYXDtdU there not malware per say but some can be a pain if you need help after trying the things in the article you can Submit a Support Ticket and they will help remove the rest free of charge.
