Hi,
I use a software called R and I found that I was having trouble installing new packages as described here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5700505/windows-7-update-packages-problem-unable-to-move-temporary-installation.
As suggested in the link, the issue was with the real time protection and when I disable it the software works fine. Please tell me how to add an exception so that I don't have to disable real time protection every time I want to use this software.

Thank you for the reply. If none of the steps I outlined was able to help resolve it, please submit a Trouble Ticket so that Webroot Support can take a look and see if there are any files that can be whitelisted in the Cloud to resolve the problem for you.@ wrote:

I have a basic understanding of "R", in that it is a GNU License data/statistical software. (Wiki is such a handy thing!) Being that it is GNU, I imagine that you frequently download new packages or alter existing ones. (?) That does make things a little bit more difficult.
Normally, if a user submits a Trouble Ticket, Webroot Support can globally 'whitelist' the executable files, and that would fix things for everyone globally, however every time an executable is changed, or a new version created, it would need to be re-whitelisted.
If you update often, this might not work as easily as just taking care of things on your own. Try looking at a few things within WSA:
Open WSA
Click the 'gear tool' next to PC Security
Click the Quarantine tab. Make sure none of the required files have been blocked for some reason.
Click the Block/Allow files tab. Make sure none of the required files are listed here as blocked. It may be a good idea to add the exectuable files here as Allowed.
Go back to the Main WSA panel
Click the 'gear tool' next to Identity Protection
Click the Application Protection tab
Check to make sure that the required files are not listed here as blocked.
Go back to the Main WSA panel
Click the 'gear tool' next to Utilities
Click the System Control tab
In the middle area, in Control Active Processes, click the Start button
Check to make sure that the required files are not set for block in this area.
Take a look through all of those areas, and see if that will accomplish what you are looking for. Please let us know if this helps!

@ Nice job on your reply. Based on what I've learned so far about "R" I suspect that you hit the nal on the head. According to their website (http://www.r-project.org/index.html) there have been a few new releases recently. I would check all the settings that you've outlined above; if that fails to resolve the issue, then a definite shout out and Trouble Ticket submission is in order.
